Context: This project was developed as a group project in the Type Design class, of the Master's Degree in Graphic Design and Editorial Projects at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto (FBAUP) in 2023.
Briefing: Develop a full-text typeface, based on a printed copy prior to the 1980s (Shaw, 2017). And creation of a specimen booklet of the implemented variable font.
Jalne it’s a revival of the typeface used in “Prontuário Gráfico” a book by A. Vilela in 1976. It’s classified as a geometric and neo-grotesque font and draws inspiration by the expansion effect at the ends caused by the use of presses and movable characters.
